Steven Pieters (1983) started out playing and collecting records around ‘95 and is active on the frontline of the Dutch underground house scene for over twenty years, playing his music in clubs and festivals throughout Europe and beyond (Tresor, Dekmantel, Dimensions, Mysteryland, Awakenings, about:blank amongst countless others). His trademark sound can be best described as a forward thinking blend of everything deep and funky, combining abstract dubby rhythms with lush and uplifting emotions. He holds a reputation for bringing warm and soulful house sounds with a distinct freaky edge and a powerful hypnotic groove. After having spearheaded the Triphouse Rotterdam collective for almost a decade (running their record shop, label and various festivals and club nights) and working as a programmer and promoter for various Dutch and international clubs and festivals, he is now focussing on his solo projects. This includes his recently launched label Instrument Of Change, radio show Hard Mellow Space on Operator and solo/collaborative music production. Most notably a hardware only liveset under the Pilot Wave moniker with Kajan Chow and Munich based multi instrumentalist Michiel Renger. Besides this a full album focused on soulful house and NYC inspired garage, made in collaboration with vocalist Lex Empress and pianist Gilian Baracs which was recorded in Ibiza early 2023 is expected to come out. Steven’s tracks have surfaced on labels such as Wolfskuil Ltd, Kindisch, Grammafoon, Manual, AM (PM series), Instrument Of Change and the Triphouse Rotterdam imprint over the last few years. New EP’s are scheduled to arrive around the summer of 2023.
